I have a woodblock print that I bought in Thailand in 1969.
It is by Sukrid and signed on the front 1909.
This artist either trained in Milwaukee or had students
at Milwaukee Downer college for Women. I have heard
that link but cannot find any info on it now.
My print is titled "Buddha Heads"
I registered with this site because I have information and questions about Sukrid Thareenak.
My mother-in-law gave me a painting she's had for a while. It is signed Sukrid on upper right. I removed the brown paper from the back of the frame to look for clues about the work. I found information you may find useful.
The Painting is called "Fruit Market". 30 in. X 20 in. Canvas over wood. Mixed media (Printed ink and brushed paint). Beautiful work! Market scene.
Below is everything found on the back of the work:
Original painting by
Sukrid Thareenak Thailand
To: Junior Chamber International
From: Junior Chamber of Thailand
Raehavity (or Rachavity) Road.
Bank Kok. Thailand
(There is a page glued to the back of the work with the artist's photograph)
The printed portion reads:
Sukrid Thareenak was born in Nakorn Sawan in 1940. He is now studying in the fifth year at Porchang School of Arts and Crafts. His works have been shown at the National Exhibition of Art, Tourist Organization of Thailand. He also exhibited with a group of Thai painters at the Bangkapi Gallery in May 1965.
(It appears that below it is the same information in Thai)
I hope this helps. Please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org with questions or information which could help me. I will take pictures and share them with anyone who requests.
