etching press bed needed - can I make one?

I have a great older heavy etching press in good shape except it has no bed. Does anybody have ideas about what material and/or how I can make a new bed. The bed would be about 28x48inch in size? Thanks for any help.

Dear friend.
I used for more 20 years , one older Master etching equipment , for engraving brass cooper and german silver, in two times i was a big repair with fiber glass and epoxic resine , remplace the spire with stainless steel and the spades , was replace with nylamid.
I hope this modest experience able are useful to you.
